Carriage Tours

Experience Acadia National Park’s world famous carriage roads, as designed and built by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., and his fellow visionaries of the last century.

Day Mountain Tour (1 hour)

9:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:30 pm

Each carriage ride circles Day Mountain. As you meander in and out of the woods, several spectacular vistas develop along the trail. Close your eyes and drink in the sounds of the woods and the horses.

Mr. Rockefeller's Bridge Tour (2 hours)

10:30 am

This fully narrated two-hour ride takes your group on a leisurely step back in history featuring some of the most remarkable bridge work in America. You may dismount the carriage and explore the Cobblestone Bridge, the first of Mr. Rockefeller bridges built in 1913. Your trip culminates with a visit to the historic Jordan Pond Gatehouse on the return ride to Wildwood Stables.

Jordan Pond House - Tea & Popover Ride (2 hours)

1:15 pm

Enjoy a nineteenth century tradition tea and popovers or a light lunch at the historic Jordan Pond House. Then you can sit back and enjoy the relaxing trip back to the stable.

Day Mountain Summit (2 hours)

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Your carriage climbs to the top of Day Mountain while you enjoy spectacular views. Just below the summit you will have the opportunity to dismount the carriage and walk out to an incredible panoramic view of the Cranberry Isles, the Schoodic Peninsula and Isle au Haut.
